Snow & Black Grouse

Around half April I visited Finland to photograph the lekking of the Black Grouse (Tetrao Tetrix).

March and April had been especially cold all over Europe, so I worried just before leaving for Finland it might be to cold for the Black Grouse to be lekking actively.

Every morning we went out around 4:15 AM and travelled to the lekking site.

In average we saw about 15 to 20 males each morning and to my relieve the lekking was pretty active.

On the last morning, right after the majority of the males came to the lekking site, it started to snow. This gave a really special atmosphere to the picture.
